I. IN THE SYNOPTIC GOSPELS, JESUS OFTEN SPEAKS OF GOD AS “MY

FATHER” REVEALING HIS CONSCIOUSNESS THAT HE IS THE SON
    OF GOD.

II. THE ANGEL GABRIEL REVEALED TO MARY THAT SHE WOULD GIVE
BIRTH TO THE SON OF GOD.
Luke 1:26-35
26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee,
named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the
house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her,
and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou
among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast
in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her,
  Fear not, Mary:
for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy
womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great,
and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the
  throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever;
and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How
shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her,
The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall
overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee
shall be called the Son of God. KJV

JESUS WAS THE SON OF GOD.

“THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED.”
Matthew 3:16-17 – 16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out
of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of
God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven,
saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.  KJV

V. THE FATHER IDENTIFIED JESUS AS HIS SON AT THE
  TRANSFIGURATION.
Matthew 17:1-5 (Compare also Mark 9:1-7).
17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth
them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his
face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold,
there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered
Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us
make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5
While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice
  out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased;
  hear ye him. KJV

VI. THE DEVIL CHALLENGED THE IDENTITY OF JESUS AS THE SON OF
GOD AT THE TEMPTATION, BUT JESUS DID NOT DENY HIS IDENTITY.
Matthew 4:1-4
4 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an
hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God,
command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is
written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of
  the mouth of God. KJV

THE CHRIST, THE SON OF GOD.
Matthew 16:15-17
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered
and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.  17 And Jesus answered
and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not
revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.  KJV

VIII. JESUS CONFESSED BEFORE THE SANHEDRIN THAT HE WAS THE SON
  OF GOD.
Luke 22:66-71
66 And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the
scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying, 67 Art thou the
Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe: 68 And if I
also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. 69 Hereafter shall the Son of
man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70 Then said they all, Art thou then
the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What
need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.  KJV

IX. THE JEWS SOUGHT TO KILL JESUS BECAUSE HE CALLED GOD HIS
OWN FATHER, AND THEY WANTED TO STONE HIM BECAUSE THEY
SAID HE MADE HIMSELF TO BE GOD.
  John 10:30-38
30 I and my Father are one.  31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
  32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father;
for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For
a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a
man, makest thyself God.  34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I
said, Ye are gods? 35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came,
and the scripture cannot be broken; 36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath
sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son
of God? 37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. 38 But if I do,
though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that
the Father is in me, and I in him. KJV

X. JESUS REFERRED TO THE FATHER-SON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN
  JEHOVAH AND HIMSELF.
Luke 10:21-22
21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of
heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and
hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son
is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will
  reveal him. KJV

XI. JESUS PART OF THE TEAM – FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT.
Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in
heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in
the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:  20 Teaching them
to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you
alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

XII. THE APOSTLES TAUGHT THAT JESUS WAS THE SON OF GOD.
Acts 9:19-23
Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. 20 And
straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.  21
But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them
which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he
might bring them bound unto the chief priests? 22 But Saul increased the more in
strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is
very Christ.  23 And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to
  kill him: KJV

  Romans 1:1-4
1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel
  of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David
according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according
to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: KJV

Revelation 2:18
18 And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son
  of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet are like fine brass;
  KJV

XIII. JESUS CALLED HIMSELF “THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD.”
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For
God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world
through him might be saved. KJV

IN SUMMATION OF THESE THOUGHTS REGARDING JESUS OF
NAZARETH AS THE SON OF GOD, CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING:

A. Jesus executes judgment (John 5:22).
B. He has life in himself and gives it to whomever he will (John 5:26, 21).
C. It is the will of the Father that all men should honor the Son as they do the
  Father (John 5:23).
D. The Son does not act on his own iniative, but only does what he has seen the
  Father do.
E. The speaks only that which he has heard the Father speak (John 12:49-50
and 14:10). He does not speak on his own initiative.
F. God is not only his Father, but he is his God (John 20:17).
